Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA News) - Four seeded players were eliminated in the early round of the "Victor Indonesia International Challenge 2011" badminton championship here on Tuesday evening.

Second-seeded in the women`s singles from Belgium, Tan Lianne, had to pack up early surrendering to Indonesian Riski Amelia Pradipta 14-21, 21-16, 21-12.

Third seeded player Ana Rovita meanwhile failed to advance to the next round after she was beaten by South Korean Kim Soo Jin, 15-21, 9-21.

In the men`s singles event, Matthieu Lo Ying Ping from France, the third seeded in the tournament, also had to surrender to Thammasin Sitthikom from Thailand 18-21, 21-15 and 16-21.

Indonesian Andre Kurniawan Tedjono, the sixth seeded, failed to overcome fellow countryman Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, surrendering at 20-22 and 18-21.

"I just played lightly and tried not to make many mistakes. Andre is a good player and his strokes often caused difficulties," Ihsan said after the match.

First seeded Tommy Sugiarto meanwhile easily proceeded to the next round winning 21-10, 21-5 over Marico Harda also from Indonesia.

One of India`s hopefuls Anup Sridhar went on smoothly to the next round after overpowering Japanese Watanabe Tatsuya, 21-14, 21-5.

Last year`s women`s single finalist Bellatrix Manuputty won a walk-out from Yasmin Cury who failed to come to the tournament.
