Manado, North Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Sixty-four percent of internet users in Indonesia are youths aged between 15 and 19 years old, an official from the ministry of communications and informatics said.

"Around 28 million people who access internet services are young people," the secretary of the Directorate General of Application of Informatics, Djoko Agung Harijadi, said at a meeting to familiarize law of funds transfer here on Thursday.

Djoko said the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 45 millions. "More and more Indonesians have become internet users," he said.

As the service has become a means needed by the people and its presence is unavoidable, Djoko advised the people to exercise wisdom to assure that it is used for positive purposes.

He said internet service had not only encouraged transformation of the real world into the cyber world but also facilitated the formation of networks and constructive and productive cyberspace life.

"The presence of internet service has brought an added value and it is getting wider," he side.

Regarding funds transfer through the internet service Djoko said that "it is vulnerable to being misused for a cybercrime and therefore it requires an electronic system which is supported by a good security system," he said.
