Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Toyota dominated the car sales at the 19th Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) held here with a sales value of Rp1.6 trillion, or about 50 percent of the total transactions worth Rp3 trillion, its chief said.

"The high sales that happened during the IIMS 2011 is not our main goal, yet we are grateful because the figure is more than our expectations," President Director of TAM Johnny Darmawan said in a press statement made available to ANTARA on Monday.

He explain that at the international automotive show which lasted from July 22 to 31, 2011, Toyota`s total sales reached 6,962 units, including 2,834 units of Avanza, 1,689 Kijang Innova and 925 units of Fortuner.

During the motor show which ended on Sunday, Toyota also won a number of appreciations namely the best stand for over 1,000 sq m category, the Favorite Vehicle 2 for its Fortuner V 4x4 A/T and Miss Motor Show 2011 for its `Toyota Pretty` Nathania Lukman.

On the occasion, the automotive market leader also awarded a prize gift in the form of "Grand New Kijang Innova" to an IIMS visitor Iskandar Zulkarnain who won the prize.

Johnny said that TAM had made use of the 19th IIMS as a show of its 40 year journey in Indonesia.

Johnny who is also chairman of the exhibition`s organizing committee said that the just-concluded Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS) 2011 was a great success in terms of number of visitors and sales transactions.

"We can be proud of this year`s exhibition because the event was such a success that it can serve as a reference for automotive exhibitions in Southeast Asia," Jhony said.

During the 10 days the show lasted, some 11,585 automotive units worth a total of Rp3,174,171,963,750.- were sold and some 322,823 people came to visit.

Jhonny also said that increasing transactions in the exhibition is also part of the organizing committee`s priority target including the number of visitors to be the biggest in the South Asia region. (*)
