Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has revoked the licenses of 1,731 registered importers for failure to carry out and report their import activities, a senior official said.

Director General for External Trade Deddy Saleh said here on Wednesday that the measure was taken on July 27, 2011 against registered importers for certain products.

He said that the revoked licenses were issued to the importers on December 2010.

The director general said that of the 1,731 licenses, 727 were for electronics importation and 265 for the importation of garments.

Besides, 215 were for toys, 195 for footwear, 69 for cosmetics and 19 for traditional and herbal medicines.
