Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The plane carrying former Democrat Party treasurer M Nazaruddin who was arrested in Cartagena, Colombia, on Sunday (Aug 7) back to Indonesia is to make a quick stopover in Barbados, police here said.

Indonesian Police spokesperson Anton Bachrul Alam said here Friday, the chartered plane carrying Nazaruddin who was arrested by Colombian police was now on its way to Indonesia.

Nazaruddin was expected to arrive in Jakarta on Saturday (Aug 13) together with the pickup team after making a 30-hour plane trip from Colombia.

Anton did not mention the name of the airline company to which the chartered plane belonged and how much the charter fee was.

"We are waiting for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)`s decision on where Nazarudin will be detained after he arrives in Jakarta," said Anton.

Earlier, Nazaruddin who had become an international fugitive after being named a suspect in a bribery case had escaped to Singapore.

In their efforts to locate and arrest Nazaruddin, the Indonesian Police Headquarters had issued a "red notice" on him and asked for Interpol`s assistance.

After being on the run for about two-and-a-half months, Nazarudin conducted a Skype teleconference with an Indonesian journalist and the footage was aired by many Indonesian national television stations.
