Kupang (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Scout Movement should prioritize its activities to shape the character and manners of the younger generation, East Nusa Tenggara Governor Frans Lebu Raya said here on Sunday.

Speaking at the peak event of the 50th anniversary of the Indonesian Scout Movement at the provincial level here, the governor said the Scout organization should be able to shape character and manners of the country`s younger generation.

In addition, the governor said the Scout movement should also act as a cohesive force of national unity and integrity besides its activities to shave the young people`s moral character.

"The Scout movement must be a cohesive force of national unity besides its activities to shape the character and manners of the younger generation," Frans said.

Meanwhile, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in his address at a ceremony to mark the Scout`s anniversary in Cibubur, West Java on Sunday evening said the National Scout Movement should continue to be innovative.

According to the president, the Scout should be innovative in developing effective and efficient activities to gain better results, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said.

"A lot of encouragement and support we have actually given to

advance the current Scouts. And it is our common duty to utilize the facilities and support to the best. Do strengthen the Scouts organization and management as properly and accurately as possible," the president said.

The president on the occasion also underscored three main points that have to be on top of priority in the development of the Indonesian Scout Movement.
