Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - One resident was shot dead and three others were injured on Monday in rioting on Tiaka Island, Central Sulawesi, where an angry mob vandalized Pertamina-Medco office facilities, police said.

Central Sulawesi Regional Police Chief Brig Gen Dewa Parsana confirmed the death of a rioter but he could not yet provide detailed explanations.

He said that the victims were residents of Tiaka who committed vandalism on the office building, office facilities and an oil well.

The oil well belongs to a consortium consisting of state-owned Pertamina and PT Medco E&P Tomori.(*)
