Semarang (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian warship KRI Banjarmasin 592 will leave Tanjung Emas port here on Saturday, Sept 3, 2011, for Jakarta with returning holiday travelers.

Chief of Central Java Information, Communication, and Transportation Department, Urip Sihabudin, said here on Thursday that the warship was operated to transport the travelers along with their motorcycles free of charge based on circular from Tanjung Emas Port Administrator.

"The KRI Banjarmasin 592 will leave Tanjung Emas port at 10 on Saturday morning for Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta," Urip said.

The ship arrived in Semarang from Jakarta with some 700 home-bound travelers on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

Arriving at Tanjung Emas port, the ship was greeted by port administration Karolus Sangadji, commander of the Semarang naval base Col. Moelyanto and commander of water police directorate at the Central Java provincial police Snr. Comr. Sutrisna.

The commander of the warship, Lt. Col. Eko Jokowiyono said the ship with 130 crew members carried 700 homeward travelers along with their 300 motorcycles free of charge.

"This is a form of cooperation between the Transportation Ministry and the Indonesian Navy in providing transportation for Idul Fitri holiday makers," he said at the time.

It took nearly 24 hours for the warship to reach Semarang.

"We also provided free meals to all homeward travelers during the trip," he said.

Administrator of the Tanjung Emas Port Karolus Sengadji said the warship would also carry residents who would return to Jakarta after they celebrated the Idul Fitri festivities at their home towns.(*)
