Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo in connection with an alleged bribery case at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry on Tuesday.

"Thank you," the minister said in reply to newsmen`s questions as he entered the KPK building.

Agus arrived at the KPK building at around 10.00 a.m. to undergo questioning as a witness in the case.

The anti-graft body summoned Agus on Friday (Sept 30) to testify to the involvement of Secretary of the Directorate General of Transmigration Area Development (P2KT) at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry I Nyoman Suisnaya in the alleged graft case. However, he could not show up because he had to inaugurate a national tax census.

Agus arrived back in Jakarta on Thursday (Sept 29) from a 10-day visit to Washington, the United States, where he participated in a series of World Bank programs.

The alleged bribery case came to light following the arrest of two Manpower and Transmigration Ministry officials. They are I Nyoman Suisnaya and Head of the Program Evaluation and Reporting Section at the Directorate General of Transmigration Area Development Dadong Irbarelawan.

The KPK also had arrested businesswoman Dhanarwati for her alleged part in the case.

The two Manpower and Transmigration Ministry officials were accused of taking a bribe of Rp1.5 billion from Dhanarwati as the proxy of PT Alam Jaya Papua board of directors.

Dhanarwati was accused of bribing the two officials to approve the disbursement of accelerated regional infrastructure development fund for transmigration areas in 19 districts.
