Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police in Tangerang, Banten province, have caught an Indian national named Rochet Muiler Roche alias Benjamin Rochet for bringing in 500 grams of meth worth Rp1.5 billion in his laptop and foam container.

"The suspect used a new method, namely hiding the meth in a laptop`s charger and fan," chief of the narcotics unit of the Tangerang Metropolitan Police Command, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Hermawan, said at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command Headquarters here on Wednesday.

Hermawan said police initially received information that an Indian citizen had rented a car at Soekarno-Hatta airport on September 21 that aroused a suspicion from driver Suwiryo.

Suwiryo was entrusted a laptop and a bottle of mustache cleaning foam from the suspect who told him he would return to his country on Friday (September 23).

He then brought the item home but when he tried to operate it he failed.

"Suwiryo thought the laptop broke down and then took it to a service shop," Hermawan said.

Hermawan said shop assistant Wahidin Al Arifin when checking the unit discovered suspicious white powder and he immediately reported it to the Tangerang Metropolitan Police on September 26.

The police then checked the crystal powder at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) laboratory that later found the powder contained Class I methamphetamine.

They then questioned Suwiryo who told them that the item belonged to an Indian national named Rochet Muiler Roche.

The police later caught Roche at Suwiryo`s house in Bandara Mas House Complex RT08/01 in Selapang, Neglasari, Tangerang, Banten, on October 10.

Hermawan said the suspect had been targeted by the police since a year ago due to their suspicion on him.

Besides arresting him the police have also confiscated as evidence a laptop, a charger, a laptop stand, a bottle of foam, 500 grams of super quality meth and two passports.

The suspect may be charged of violating Article 113 of the narcotics law of 2009 carrying a minimum sentence of five years and maximum sentence of 20 years.
