Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said the appointment of new deputy ministers on Wednesday would not burden the state budget.

"I think it will not, in a relative sense , it will not," he said when asked about it after attending the installation of new cabinet ministers and deputy ministers here on Wednesday.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his effort to improve the performance of his cabinet has replaced some ministers and installed new ones and also appointed several deputy ministers.

Agus said the newly-installed deputy ministers had already been in the ranks of bureaucracy in their ministries concerned and therefore the budget for them would be part of that of the offices concerned and therefore would not significantly change the budget.

He said the new deputy ministers need not set up exclusive organizations that would potentially increase the budget.

"I must assure that they all have a common view that exclusive organizations for them would not be necessary," he said.

President Yudhoyono on Wednesday installed 13 new deputy ministers to make the number of deputy ministers in his cabinet to increase to 19.

Some quarters have expressed concern over the decision saying that it would increase burden in the budget.(*)
