"Up to now, 15 heads of state (have confirmed) their participation," Julian A Pasha said here on Sunday.
Ten heads of state or government of the ASEAN member countries have confirmed that they will join the Summits. They are from Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
"As we have known, several heads of state from the United States, Japan, China, South Korea and special representative of New Zealand will also be present," he said after attending a presentation on the preparations for the organizing of the Summits which will take place in Bali, on November 14-18, 2011.
In the presentation, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi in his capacity as the chairman of the ASEAN and East Asia Summit organizing committee, and Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa as the deputy chairman, elaborated the preparation process.
"Just now, the minister/state secretary reported about the preparations to the President, that there have been nine coordinating meetings and five field visits in Bali since June 16 to October 15, 2011," he said.
The presentation on the Summit preparations was attended by among others President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, and Tourism and Creative Economic Minister Mari E Pangestu.
On November 15, after returning from Hawaii for attending the APEC Summit, President Yudhoyono will inspect the venues of the ASEAN and East Asia Summits in Bali.
The United States and Russia will participate for the first time in the East Asia Summit (EAS).
