Karawang (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s women`s kayak 2 team added another gold medal to their country`s top honors tally by winning the 500-meter race on the second day of the 26th SEA Games rowing competition on Saturday.

Situ Cipule, Khanewal district, West Java, on Saturday.

The Indonesian women`s rowing team consisting of Masrifah, Rasima, Sarce Aronggear, and Kanti Satyavati was the first to reach the finish line, clocking 01:41:00 at Situ Cipule, Khanewal District, West Java,.

Singapore`s rowing team consisting of Geraldine Lee, Wilona Lee, Andrea Chen, Annabelle Ng, came in second with a time record of 01:41:59.

In third position was the Thai rowing team consisting of Waratchaya Kheha, Kanokpan Suansan, Sakunrat Huansat, and Waraporn Boon Yuhong, clocking 01:42.83.

The Indonesian team managed to reach the finish first after going through a heavy struggle against its competitors in the race.

With the cheerful support from spectators, the Indonesian team which halfway the race was still in the middle of the pack, went into an all-out spurt when it was only a few hundred yard from the finish line, and ultimately finished first.

On the second day of the rowing competition, the Indonesian team was able to bag one gold medal. In earlier 500-m races, none of its members wase able to win the top spot.

Masrifah finished second in the 500-meter individual Kayak race, while Rasima and Sarce Aronggear ranked fourth in the 500-meter Kayak race for pairs,
