Cairo (ANTARA News/AFP) - The death toll from confrontations between protesters and police around Egypt has reached 30, the health ministry said on Tuesday, as the violence raged into a fourth straight day.

Two more people were killed in Cairo on Tuesday, said the statement quoted by the official MENA news agency, as protesters continued to battle police around the interior ministry headquarters, close to the central Tahrir Square.

Police have been locked in sporadic clashes with protesters demanding the end of military rule.

Tens of thousands of protesters massed in Tahrir Square on Tuesday to demand a transition to civilian rule.(*)
