Bogor (ANTARA News) - A landslide triggered by incessant rain killed two people in Bogor city, West Java, on Thursday.

"The victims were identified as Galih (18) and Adit (9). They were buried by a landslide at around 09.30 western Indonesian time," community police spokesperson Ervita said on Friday.

They were buried for almost 12 hours under the debris of the landslide that hit a residential area at Cibogo, Bogor city, she said.

Efforts to evacuate the victims were impeded by unstable soil and rains falling in the area, she said.

The landslide also destroyed five houses and injured three people lightly.

A rescue team consisting of disaster task force personnel, fire fighters, police officers and military men, with the help of local people continued their search for the victims until 09.55 a.m. on Friday when the body of the 9-year old Adit was found.

The body of Galih was found earlier at 09.30 a.m.
