Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Cibinong Public Prosecutor`s Office chief Suripto Widodo has been fired for violating personnel disciplinary rules in relation with the suspected involvement of a subordinate in a bribery case, an Attorney General`s Office (AGO) spokesman said.

One of Suripto`s subordinates, Public Prosecutor Sistoyo, was recently arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on suspicion of having received a bribe over a case being heard in court.

"As stated in a decision of the Deputy Attorney General to remove Suripto Widodo from his post, the latter proves to have committed a violation of personnel disciplinary rules," the head of the AGO`s Legal Information Service, Noor Rachmad, said here Friday.

Suripto had violated Article 3, points 6 dan 7 of Government Regulation No 53/2010 Civil Servants` Discipline.

"For the time being Suripto has been discharged from his structural position. Where he will be transferred to will be decided later by the Junior Attorney General for Personnel Management," Noor said.

The decision to strip Suripto of his position was taken after the Assistant for Supervision to the head of the West Java High Prosecutor`s Office had questioned him.

Meanwhile, the AGO was also reported to be planning to question Prosecutor Sistoyo in an effort to find out the possible involvement of more people at the Cibinong Public Prosector`s Office in the bribery case .

"We will as soon as possible ask the KPK for permission to question Sistoyo," Junior Attorney General for Supervision Marwan Effendy said on Thursday.

Sistoyo had been handling the case of businessman EMB who was accused of fraud and document forgery related to a project to build a hangar and kiosks for the Cisarua Festival Market in Bogor district.

He was arrested by KPK officers when he was in the parking lot of his office in Cibinong in the company of EMB while the officers had also recovered almost Rp1 billion in cash from his car. (*)
