Tenggarong, East Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Six more bodies are founded by the search and rescue team on Monday morning at the collapsed Kutai Kertanegara bridge.

"The bodies are founded 10 kilometers away from the site of the incident," Chief of National Search and Rescue Agency Admiral Daryatmo said here on Monday.

With the latest finding, the total of number of casualties of the bridge incident had reached 10.

The 500-m long Kutai Kartanegera bridge over the Mahakam river in East Kalimantan province collapsed at 4.30 pm on Saturday causing a number of vehicles to fall into the river.

Up till now, it is reported that 46 people are injured due to the incident while 31 others were reported still missing.

Earlier, Chief minister for people`s welfare Agung Laksono said the government would investigate the collapse of the Kutai Kartanegara bridge.

"Certainly an investigation will be carried out to find the cause of the collapse," he said.

Minister Agung Laksono and public works minister Djoko Kirmanto were in the province to see the extent of the damage caused by the incident.

Based on preliminary investigation the bridge not under a repair when it collapsed.

"According to information I received from the contractor, the bridge was not under repair but was about to start with the repair," Agung said.

He said some of the workers had even also fallen victim in the incident. So far four people have been found dead in the incident while dozens of others had been wounded. ANTARA learned the bridge was quite busy when it collapsed.

Agung said what was important to do now was preparing boats to replace the function of the bridge.

He said the bridge has been the main economic route of the people in Tenggarong district and its surrounding areas. (*)
