Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Finance Ministry has predicted that fuel oil subsidies would exceed the quota set in the revised 2011 state budget.

Until the end of last November alone, the realization of fuel subsidies reached more than 90 percent of the target, Director General of Treasury Agus Suprijanto said here on Monday.

He did not rule out the possibility that the realization of fuel oil subsidies until the end of December 2011 would outstrip the budget already agreed upon.

In the revised 2012 state budget, fuel subsidies have been set at Rp129.72 trillion. Until November 7, 2011, the realization of fuel subsidies reached Rp110.2 trillion, accounting for 85.4 percent of the target.

State oil and gas company Pertamina has predicted subsidized fuel consumption this year will increase by 1.4 million kiloliters to 41.89 million kiloliters from 40.4 million kiloliters previously.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said the government planned to tightly restrict the use of subsidized fuel in 2012. (*)
