According to Prijanto, he could not yet disclose his reason for resigning.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Deputy Governor Prijanto came to the city`s Legislative Assembly (DPRD) here Tuesday to submit his letter of resignation.

Prijanto on the occasion was received by the DPRD`s chairman and his three deputies respectively Ferrial Sofyan, Lulung Lunggana, Triwisaksana and Inggard Joshua, and their closed door meeting took place for about two hours and thirty minutes.

Prijanto said he was upset when, on emerging from his meeting with city councilors, he was met by dozens of journalists who waited for him.

"Being awaited by many journalists upsets me. Why do they wait for me? I only delivered a letter of resignation to the DPRD chairman," Prijanto told journalists soon after he completed his meeting with the DPRD leaders.

When asked what was discussed in the closed-door meeting with the DPRD leaders, Prijanto said nothing special was discussed.

"The DPRD leaders have accepted my letter of resignation," Prijanto said.

The DPRD leaders, according to Prijanto, would hold an internal meeting to discuss his resignation.

"It is up to the DPRD to hold an internal meeting. But I hope it will be held before January 2012, so the matter of my resignation can be settled soon. Hopefully the meeting can be held on Thursday or Friday this week," Prijanto said.

According to Prijanto, he could not yet disclose his reason for resigning.

Prijanto had officially tendered his resignation to Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi a few days ago.

"The resignation letter was dated December 23, 2011, but he did not specifically mention his reason for reigning from his position as deputy governor," Jakarta City Government spokesman Cucu Ahmad Kurnia said here on Sunday.

Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo announced here Monday his deputy, Prijanto, had sent in his resignation in a letter dated last Friday (Dec 23) without mentioning his reasons. (*)
