Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s inflation rate reached 0.57 percent in December 2011 , according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS).

Among the major contributors to the inflation rate were foodstuffs (1.62 percent) and cooked food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco )0.50 percent), Suryamin, the BPS acting chairman, said here on Monday.

"Almost every city experienced inflation in December," he said.

As a result, the inflation rate in the calendar January-December 2011 period was 3.79 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate 3.79 percent , he said.

The 2011 inflation rate was far below the figure assumed in the Amended 2011 State Budget (APBN) at 5.65 percent, he said.
