Sampit, C Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - A team of technicians managed to free and remove an MA 60 plane which had plunged in peat land at Haji Asan Asan Sampit airport, Kotawaringin Timur, Central Kalimantan, on Saturday (Jan 7).

The evacuation took three full days from Tuesday at 2.15 am local time, as the stuck left tire had been freed and remove from the peat land," flight safety chief of Haji Asan Sampit airport Harianto said in Sampit Tuesday.

The evacuation had been rather sluggish due to the lack of the supporting equipment.

After the left tire had been freed and removed from the sticking peat land, the MA 60 plane was immediately drawn to a safe spot.

The MA 60 is now back at its apron for further investigation by a five-men technical team.

Harianto said it was still being determined what part of the plane was damaged, as investigations were still in progress.

"As of Tuesday morning all flights at the airport had been resumed," he said.

Haji Asan Sampit airport has been declared safe for flights and the hole at the edge of the runway where MA 60 was stuck, had been closed.

For Tuesday, there are at least four flight routes, namely the Sampit-Pangkalan Bun, Sampit-Surabaya, Sampit-Semarang and Sampit-Jakarta lines. (*)
