Madrid (ANTARA News/IRNA-OANA) - Ecuador government rejected statement of the US State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland that it is not time for countries to expand ties with Iran.

Ecuador Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino in a press conference said that the US has no right to decide when it is appropriate for expanding ties with the other countries.

Patino went on to say,"We have decided to host Iranian president and we are not going to change our decision upon the US recommendation."

The minister stressed that Equador has no reason to cut ties with Iran.

"There are now more than five countries in the world that have nuclear arsenal and we have relations with them, including the USA," said Equador foreign minister.

Patino added that Iran is under pressure by certain countries which claim Iran is a threat to the world peace and try to impose sanctions against Iran.
