Palu, C Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Central Sulawesi office of the State Logistics Board (Bulog) is holding rice stocks of 15,000 tons enough to meet six-month consumption, its chief said.

The rice stocks came from the purchase of rice during the 2011 harvest time, Imam Syafei said here on Sunday.

In the 2012 harvest time the office had not yet bought rice because it was still waiting for the government-set prices of rice and dry unhusked rice, he said.

He said the government had not yet set the new prices of rice and dry unhusked rice for 2012.

What was more, the first phase the 2012 harvest time had not yet come, he said.

If no obstacle or disturbance occurred the first phase of the 2012 harvest time would take place at the end of February or early March, he said.

He said the Bulog office in Central Sulawesi was planning to buy 25,000 tons of rice from local farmers during the 2012 harvest time. "But the figure is temporary prognosis," he said.

In the 2011 harvest time the office bought 14,000 tons of rice from local farmers at a government-set price of Rp6,500 per kg.(*)
