Palembang (ANTARA News) - The accident of the coal train at Simpang Penimur-Niru, Muaraenim regency, South Sumatra on Sunday (Feb 19), was apparently caused by negligence of the train personnel.

Head of the road and railroad transportation division the South Sumatra Transportation, Communication and Information Agency said in Palembang Tuesday that the collision was probably the result of negligence on the part of the train personnel.

But, he said, the accident was still being investigated by the Transportation Safety National Commission (KNKT) of the Ministry of Transportation.

The collision took place between the coal train from Lampung and a train from Lahat.

In the accident four people were killed, besides the engineer and his assistant, Jaswir, Sunaidi, Ranggi and Sajidin.

He said that the KNKT and the relevant authorities are still investigating the railroad collision.(*)
