Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The ASEAN Foundation and Getulio Vargas Foundation or Fundao Getulio Vargas (FGV) of Brazil signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Institutional Cooperation here Wednesday.

"The objective of this partnership is to establish collaborations on mutually identified areas of interest and to further strengthen ties between ASEAN and Brazil," the ASEAN Foundation Secretariat said in a press statement.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Makarim Wibisono, the Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, and Prof. Renato G. Flores, Jr., who is a Professor at the FGV Graduate School of Economics (EPGE/FGV).

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil Paulo Alberto da Silveira Soares and Minister Counselor Caio Mario Renault.

Through this partnership, the ASEAN Foundation and Getulio Vargas Foundation share the commitment of contributing to human resources development in the ASEAN region through capacity-building, and improving the welfare of the ASEAN and Brazilian people.

Both Foundations agree to develop and implement joint partnerships with regard to, among others, capacity-building initiatives, specific projects, and any other forms of activities that will benefit key sectors in the region and eventually contribute to building the ASEAN Community as well as sustainable and beneficial relations between the two regions.
