Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The crew of Indonesian patrol boat Hiu Macan 001 of the Maritime and Fishery Ministry (KKP) has apprehended three foreign vessels caught poaching in the Indonesian waters of Natuna on February 22, an official said.

"The three Vietnamese fishing boats are now being held at the port of the KKP`s Fishery and Maritime Supervision Station (PSDKP)," Head of the PSDKP for Pontianak office Bambang Nugroho said here on Saturday.

Bambang said that besides illegally fishing in Natuna`s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the three foreign vessels also used trawlers to catch fish.

Indonesia authorities have also arrested the Vietnamese fishing boats skippers and crew.

The three skippers and three crew members are facing Indonesian legal proceedings, Bambang said.(*)
