Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Marine and Fisheries Minister Sharif Cicip Sutardjo over the weekend commissioned a fish feed and processing facility in Karawang, West Java, which he said would result in 10 to 20 percent drop in the fish feed price.

The facility was built in an effort to make good quality fish feed available to fish farmers at a reasonable price, the minister said on the occasion.

The facility was set up as part of the government`s strategy to revitalize fish cultivation or farming activities in support of its program to industrialize farm-based fisheries, he said,

The fish processing facility was meant to enhance the fish processing industry as part of the country fisheries-based industry network, he said.

The fish feed plant was equipped with machinery from South Korea consisting of of pulverizing machine, mixer, pellet mill and boiler.It had a capacity to produce 2 tons of fish feed pe hour.

"With the existence of this facility, I predict, the present fish feed price will drop by 10 to 20 percent," the minister said.
