Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - First brigadier Satria Perdana Putra from the Simeulue resort police in Aceh has been dismissed for using narcotic drugs.

The dismissal was performed during a ceremony here on Tuesday, led personally by the chief of the police resort, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Parluatan Siregar, and attended by all members of the police resort.

"The dismissal is effective as of today, according to the decree, the government regulation and decision of the police ethics committee," Parluatan said.

He noted any police officer acting in violation of the law, no matter how trivial the offense, would not be tolerated.

"This must become a lesson for other members so that what first brigadier Satria has done will not recur," he noted.

Satria Perdana Putra, who graduated from the State Police School in Seulawah in the district of Aceh Besar in 2005, was sentenced to five and a half years in jail by the Sinabang district court in connection with a marijuana case in 2009.

But before he had finished serving the sentence, he was caught consuming methamphetamine in 2010 and was again sentenced to five and a half years in jail. Due to that, he had lost his status as a police officer. (*)
