Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk reached a net profit of Rp15.08 trillion in 2011, up 31.47 pct from the same period of 2010, namely Rp11.47 trillion.

"The increase is the result if an increase in fee based income, quality credits, and well maintained operational efficiency," President Director of BRI Sofyan Basir told a press conference at BRI Building in Jakarta Tuesday.

Sofyan said the total credits which BRI has channeled in 2011 reached Rp283.58 trillion, up by 14.83 pct from Rp246.97 trillion in 2010.

"We also managed to reduce problematic credits from 2.78 pct in 2010 to 2.30 pct in 2011," Sofyan said.

He added that the operational burden to operational income (BOPO) also dropped from 70.86 pct in 2010 to 66.69 pct in 2011.

On the same occasion, BRI Micro Small and Medium Business (UMKM) Director Djarot Kusumajakti added that the composition of channeling BRI credits included retail and consumer 43.49 pct, micro 31.80 pct, medium 4,88 pct, state enterprises 11.34 pct, and corporations 8.49 pct.

In the meantime, capital also increased by 35.72 pct to Rp49.77 trillion in 2011. Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) also increased to 14.96 pct.

In 2011, BRI increased third party funds (DPK) by 13.27 pct from Rp328.56 trillion in 2010 to Rp372.15 trillion in 2011.

BRI`s DPK composition in 2011 included giro Rp75.58 trillion (20.31 pct), savings Rp152.47 trillion (40.97 pct) and deposits Rp144.10 trillion (38.72 pct).
