Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) is considering Taiwan`s offer to grant a squadron of F-5E/F Tiger jet fighters, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Imam Sufaat said.

"(The offer) is good and we will consider it," he told ANTARA News after a function marking the transfer of post of commander of the Air Force training command here on Friday.

He said the usage age of the TNI AU`s F-5E/Fs would end in 2020.

"On average the remaining flight hours of our F-5 planes are 4,000 out of 10,000 they have. If they fly 200 hours a year they can be used until 2020," he said.

Assistant for planning to the air force chief of staff Rear Marshal Rodi Suprasodjo said if the F-5E/F planes still could carry out their function properly they need not be upgraded.(*)
