Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian mixed double players Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir won an All England champion title after beating Thomas Laybourn and Kamila Rytter from Denmark 21-17, 21-19 at National Indoor Arena in Birmingham Sunday.

It took 43 minutes for the Indonesian pair, who ranks fourth in the world, to beat the the world`s eighth ranked pair from Denmark.

The two pairs were involved in a tight match early in the first set equaling scores several times until 11-11. But after that the Indonesian pair accumulated seven points in a row to score 18-12 and later finished the game 21-17.

In the second set the Indonesian pair immediately led the game with a 3-1 score. They continued leading until the Danish were later able to equalize 19-19. Tontowi and Liliyana however immediately finished the game 21-19 after that.

Their victory ended Indonesia`s long wait for an All England champion title.

Indonesia last won an All England champion title in 2003 through its men`s double players Chandra Wijaya and Sigit Budiarto while the last title in the mixed double event was won by Christian Hadinata and Imelda Wiguna 33 years ago.

The Indonesian mixed double players` victory this time also ended China`s domination in the event since 2006.(*)
