Jayapura (ANTARA News) - An Airfast helicopter carrying staff from mining company PT Freeport was reported to have crashed at 11.00 local time in Papua`s interior area, Kampong Tsinga.

According to Freeport spokesperson Ramdani Sirait, the helicopter was carrying the company`s two-man exploration team when it crashed.

It is believed to have cashed in mile 73 of Mimika district, he said.

"PT.Freeport`s safety team is still continuing the search efforts," said Ramdani.

When asked about the name of the pilot and passengers, Ramdani said he was awaiting additional information before releasing information about the helicopters occupants.(*)
