"France has so far been known as a peaceful country so why did the bomb attack take place there," he said at the parliament building here on Wednesday.
He said what surprised him more was the blast occurring near the Indonesian embassy building. He urged the foreign minister to seek clarification from the Indonesian ambassador in Paris in regard to that.
The politician from Golkar Party said that France has no problem with Indonesia. "Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been very good. This is strange," he remarked.
Meanwhile, House Commission I chairman Mahfudz Siddik called on the Indonesian people not to speculate about the incident.
"According to the information that I've received, the French police are still investigating the bomb blast near the Indonesian embassy in Paris," he said.
He added that the French police were still collecting information from a number of people and CCTV recordings to find out who was behind the blast and their possible motives.
"Let us just wait for the results of the investigation currently being carried out by the Paris police," he said.
The politician from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) hoped that the bomb blast was not aimed at the Indonesian embassy.
