Sukabumi, West Java (ANTARA News) - At least nine fishermen in Pelabuhan Ratu, Sukabumi, West Java, went missing while fishing at sea in 2012, according to Sukabumi Search and Rescue Agency.

"They went missing because of bad weather and accidents with their boats," head of Sukabumi Search and Rescue Agency Okih Gajri Assidiqie told the press in Sukabumi on Saturday.

The fishermen were reported missing at nine degree latitude and 126 miles from Christmas Island sea.

He said the nine missing fishermen worked for different companies and the fishermen have been reported as missing by the agency.

"The sea waves were high. The agency also had difficulties searching for the fishermen," he added.

The agency is still monitoring and coordinating with the other fishermen to search for the nine fishermen.(*)
