A Singaporean, Chai Hung Yin, who is in a building in Sengkang area (Singapore) said she felt like swaying for 30 seconds.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The tremor of the 8.9 Richter in scale earthquake that hit Sumeulue district, Aceh province, on Wednesday afternoon is also felt in provinces in Sumatra island and Singapore.

"I felt a tremor and rushed to get out of the house," Rio Yudha Maulana, a student in West Sumatra said.

Meanwhile a Singaporean, Chai Hung Yin, who is in a building in Sengkang area (Singapore) said she felt like swaying for 30 seconds.

"I was on the 16th floor and I could feel the whole building swaying. I thought I was dizzy and I could feel the building swaying. It went on for at least 30seconds," she said.

An 8.9 Richter in scale earthquake hits Simeulue district, Aceh province, here on Wednesday at 03.38 P.M West Indonesian Time.

Information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the earthquake is centered at 364 kilometers of Simeulue district at the depth of 10 kilometers. An aftershock of 8.5 Richter in scale hits shortly after the first quake.(*)
