Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Police`s Densus 88 counter-terrorism unit arrested three terrorist suspects, identified by their initials U, AG, and D, in Purwakarta, West Java on Tuesday.

"We arrested three terrorist suspects this morning at 5 a.m," senior commissioner Boy Rafli Amar, a spokesman of the National Police, said here on Tuesday.

He stated that they were also linked with two other suspected terrorists who were allegedly involved in bank robberies to fund their activities and were arrested in Bima on Friday, April 13.

"This group was also allegedly involved in gold shop robberies to fund their activities in Purwakarta," Boy said.

The terrorist suspects were part of a terror group that killed a police officer in a 2010 bank robbery in Medan, capital of North Sumatra province, allegedly to fund terrorist activities.

"One of the terrorist suspects, identified by his initials KN, not only escaped to Bima but also to West Java. We suspected that the three terrorist suspects in Purwakarta helped KN in his escape," he added.

KN has a key role in a militant training camp in Sumatra`s Aceh province and was arrested with a suspected terrorist, identified by his initials Drg YNI, in Bima on Friday.

KN and Drg YNI have been flown to Jakarta and are being interrogated by anti-terror police investigators.

"We are still developing this case," Boy said.(*)
