Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB) will extend its cooperation with several universities in Germany in the fields of bio-diesel, bio-medicine, and biotechnology.

IPB`s public relations officer Henny Windarti said here over the weekend that German Ambassador Dr Norbert Baas and Conseulor Science, Technology & Environment Klaus Michael Rottman visited the IPB Dermaga campus on Sunday.

During the visit, IPB rector Prof Herry Suhardyanto told the ambassador that the institute wanted to work with German universities in the fields of bio-diesel, bio-medicine, and biotechnology, because Indonesia had a lot of biodiversity.

"Thus, the three points will be developed in the future," Herry said.

During the implementation of agribusiness cooperation with Germany`s Gottingen university, IPB had sent 10 students who were funded by the Culture and Education Ministry.

The German envoy said that his visit to IPB was aimed at exploring deeper cooperation between the institute and the German universities of Gottingen, Bremen, and Kassel.
