Semarang, C Java (ANTARA News) - The WBA Super Featherweight Champion Chris John said he was ready to defend his 16th title against Shoji Kimora (Japan) at the Marina Bay Sands Resort in Singapore on May 5, 2012.

"I am ready to reach the target of winning the fight against Shoji in Singapore," the record holder of 46 wins (22 of them by knockout) and two draws said here on Tuesday.

Commenting on his preparedness, the boxer nicknamed `The Dragon` said his preparation was close to 100 percent and he would be completely ready for the fight against the Japanese boxer.

John left for Singapore from here on Tuesday (April 24) after staying a couple of days with his family, following his two-month training in Harry`s Gym in Perth, Australia.

He had grabbed the world title from Colombian boxer Oscar Leon through an ad-interim fight in Bali, on September 26, 2003.

John defended his 15th world title after beating Ukraine`s Stanyslav Merdov in Australia on November 30, 2011.

The 32-year-old John was born in Jakarta on September 14, 1979, while his opponent Kimora is 34 years old, being born in Abashiri, Hokaido, Japan, on July 20, 1977.

Kimora has a fight record of 24 wins (nine of them by knockout), four losses, (one of them by knockout), and two draws.(*)
