Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono arrived in Batam on Friday to inaugurate a modest rental apartment building, popularly known as Rusunawa, along Hang Kesturi Street at Kabil industrial area.

The four-storey apartment building is made up of 10 towers with 20 blocks.

In addition to this modest apartment building at Kabil industrial area, there are similar buildings constructed at the Muka Kuning and Lancang Kuning areas on Batam Island.

Equipped with a mosque, meeting hall, sports facility, park, clinic, restaurant and ATM booth, the latest apartment building at Kabil industrial area can accommodate 4,000 single workers paying a rent of Rp120,000 per person per month.

The apartment buildings in Batam have been built by the Ministry of Public Housing in cooperation with the Public Works Ministry, Manpower and Transmigration Ministry and the state workers insurance firm PT Jamsostek.

During his visit to Batam, President Yudhoyono was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Public Housing Minister Djan faridz.

Also Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, Minister and State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam, Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto, National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief Agus Suhartono, National Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo and several other government officials.
