"We want to lead a better life like the farmers who get the fertilizer subsidy."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - In their rally to mark the International May Day on Tuesday, the Indonesian workers, grouped in All Indonesia Labors Confederation, demanded a Rp14 trillion subsidy from the government.

"We ask the government to provide us with a Rp14 trillion subsidy from the 2013 state budget, because we have contributed Rp200 trillion to the state budget," Indonesian Workers Union Confederation spokesman Said Iqbal said at the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle on Tuesday.

He stated that the government should allocate the funds for housing, education, health, and transportation subsidies.

"We want to lead a better life like the farmers who get the fertilizer subsidy and other concessions from the government," Iqbal added.

On Tuesday morning, thousands of labourers gathered at the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle to stage the May Day rally and then marched to Presidential Palace on Merdeka Utara street to demand the government to pay attention to their welfare.
