Tehran (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Iran`s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast expressed hope that the new French President- elect Francois Hollande would "revise the wrong policies of his country in the past," official IRNA news agency reported on Monday.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA on Monday, he said failure of Nicolas Sarkozy in the Sunday presidential elections was "the result of his wrong policies."

He said the history of Tehran-Paris relations has provided an apt situation for growing cooperation, hoping that a new chapter would be opened up in the two countries bilateral relations through the election of the new French president.

According to initial results published by the French Interior Ministry, Hollande won an estimated 51.05 percent of the vote in Sunday`s presidential run-off to defeat President Nicolas Sarkozy who finished with 48.95 percent. (*)
