Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The wreckage of Sukhoi Superjet-100 that went missing in West Java since Wednesday afternoon, has been found, a spokesman of the National Search and Rescue (SAR) Agency, said.

"At around 8:30 local time, the SAR team saw the wreckage that we suspect is the location of the plane crash," Vice Marshal Daryatmo, the chairman of the National SAR Agency, said here Thursday.

The SAR agency mobilized a Super Puma helicopter on Thursday at 7:15 a.m. toward the coordinate where the plane lost contact at Mt Salak area, West Java, on Wednesday.

At 8:30, the SAR team aboard Super Puma saw the wreckage believed to be that of the missing Sukhoi.

After detecting the location, the SAR team immediately sends an evacuation team by land. It will take around six hours to reach the crash site by land, he said.

He predicted that the rescue efforts will be hampered by bad weather as the fog on the mountain is very thick.
