Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - A total of 27 body bags containing the remains and belongings of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) victims have so far been flown from Pasir Bogor, Cijeruk, Cipelang, Bogor, West Java, to Halim Perdanakusumah, East Jakarta, in the last seven days.

"Two of them were flown on Tuesday morning," said the commander of Atang Sandjaja air force base Air Commodore Tabri Santoso here on Tuesday.

The weather conditions on Tuesday morning were good. "We hope it will stay fine in the afternoon," he remarked.

A number of the Army`s Special Forces Command (Kopassus) personnel are heading to the crash site to relieve the personnel currently involved in the evacuation process, who are reportedly exhausted carrying out the heavy task in the extreme terrain.

"This replacement is necessary so (we can have) personnel in fresh condition," he added.

A Russian team is also proceeding to the crash site to deliver logistics support to the Russian rescuers who have been at the site for the last two days.

The Russian-made SSJ-100 with 45 people on board - eight Russians, 35 Indonesians, one Frenchman, and one American - was on a demonstration flight when it crashed into Mount Salak in Bogor district, West Java, on Wednesday (May 9) afternoon.

On Thursday morning, a SAR team aboard a helicopter spotted the plane`s wreckage on the edge of a cliff about 5,500 feet (1,650 metres) high on Mount Salak.

The evacuation process, however, could not begin before Friday morning because of extreme weather conditions and difficult terrain in the mountainous area. So far, there have been no reports of survivors.

Russia has sent three separate teams to help in the evacuation of the victims` bodies from the plane`s wreckage, the identification process of the victims` remains, and the investigation into the cause of the crash, respectively. (*)
