"This competition is a great way to recognise Indonesia`s electoral process."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Australian Government aid program, AusAID, invites Indonesian photo journalists to enter a photo competition designed to celebrate local elections, according to the Australian Embassy in its Website here on Friday.

Under the theme of "Local elections on camera", print and online journalists can submit photos about local elections. Photographs must have been published in the last year.

Since 1999, Australia has supported local elections and three national elections. Australia works with the Indonesian National Election Commission (KPU) and civil society organisations to strengthen the management of elections and maintain public engagement in the electoral process.

"This competition is a great way to recognise Indonesia`s electoral process," said the Australian Charg D`affaires for Indonesia, Dr. David Engel.

"Well-run elections are important for any democracy. The Australian Government is proud to support Indonesia's efforts to maintain high voter participation in the world's third largest democracy," added Dr Engel.

AusAID is organising this competition in partnership with the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI).
