"We have provided supporting facilities."
Bukittinggi (ANTARA News) - Bukittinggi Municipality administration has expressed its readiness to carry out Tour de Singkarak international bike race (TdS) which will take place on June 4 through 10, 2012, tourism office spokesman said.

"We have provided supporting facilities in effort to make the TdS a success," head of the city tourism and cultural affairs office, Kaslim Burhan said here on Saturday.

Kaslim said that his office had prepared 240 personnel to help secure the cyclists at the stage four on Thursday (June 7).

The cyclists before reaching the finish line at "Jam Gadang" (Tower) park of stage IV, they will pass-by among others the main streets of Sudirman, H. Agus Salim, Laras Dt. Bandaro, Ahmad Karim, and A Yanni.

In addition, the city administration will also serve the cyclists with musical entertainment from several workshops such as the Sanggar Sakato, Rang Mudo, Saandiko 14, Saayun Salangkah, Gastarana, Ganto Minang, Sakato and Sanggar Puti Limo Jurai.

Around 250 cyclists from 17 countries will compete in Tour de Singkarak.

The task force chief of Padang city public works office, Dahler said that foreign participants from 17 countries consisting of Japan, Iran, Singapore, Australia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Kyrgyztan, Russia, Chinese Taipei, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand, France, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, last year, a total of 234 cyclists including 15 foreign teams took part in the Tour de Singkarak that lasted on June 6 through 12, 2011.

The participants for the upcoming event will compete in seven stages of the event which will cover, first Sawahlunto-Sijunjung, second Muara Sijunjung-Lembah Harau, third Payakumbuh-Istana Basa Pagaruyung, fourth Sicincin Anai Golf-Bukittinggi, fifth Padang Panjang-Singkarak, sixth Pariaman-Painan, seventh Padang Circuit Race.
