Manila (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - The Philippine government has received donations from Pakistan for the reconstruction of areas devastated by tropical storm Washi late last year, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Thursday.

Pakistani Ambassador to the Philippines Mohsin Razi turned over to Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario a check amounting to 50,000 U.S. dollars, as a token of the Government of Pakistan` s contribution to the reconstruction efforts of the Philippines resulting from the devastation caused by the storm in December 2011.

Del Rosario accepted the donation on behalf of the Philippine government in a simple handover ceremony on Wednesday.

Over 1,200 people were reported dead and scores were missing in central and southern Philippines where were hit by the storm last December.
