Canned fish and six other industrial products contributed 58.16 million US dollars.
Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Bali`s canned fish exports contributed 10.39 million US dollars in the January-April 2012 period, a 58.35 percent increase from 6.56 million US dollars in the same period last year.

In term of volume, the exports also increased 52.98 percent from 2,447.8 tons in last year`s first four months to 3,774.7 tons in the same period this year, Head of the Bali administration public relations division I Ketut Teneng said here on Wednesday.

He said last year`s results from the same commodities reached 22.37 million dollars, a 6.29 percent increase from 21.04 million dollars a year earlier.

One of the seven different commodities produced by the processing industry has reached the export market and had been substantially influenced by foreign markets and the availability of the commodity in Bali.

Ketut Teneng also said that Bali is regularly producing canned fish of good quality in the hope to become competitive and attractive to foreign consumers.

Some 70 pct of the Indonesian ready for consumption canned fish has reached the Japanese market, and the remaining 30 pct other countries, he said.

Canned fish and six other industrial products contributed 58.16 million US dollars, down 16.59 percent from 69.73 million US dollars in the same period a year earlier.

The industrial sector not only produced canned fish, but also components of finished houses, plastics, footwear, handbags, textile and textile products.

The industrial sector contributed 36.55 percent of Bali`s total exports estimated at 159.13 million US dollars in the first four months of this year, a 5.36 percent decline compared to on 158.13 million US dollars in the same period a year earlier, Ketut Teneng said.
