"They were named suspects after intensive questioning and based on sufficient evidence."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - West Jakarta police have named eight members of the Forum Betawi Rempug (FBR) community group suspects for allegedly being involved in the destruction of a Forum Anak Betawi (Forkabi) command post on Wednesday (July 18).

"They were named suspects after intensive questioning and based on sufficient evidence," West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort chief Senior Commissioner Suntana said here on Thursday.

He said the police had seized and intensively interrogated 15 people after the incident happened.

He said four of them who had been named suspects were proven carrying sharp weapons when caught two of them believed to be involved in the vandalism and two others in provocation and mobilizing people in the incident.

The police had freed seven others due to a lack of evidence for naming them suspects but if more evidence is found later the number of suspects may still rise, he said.

He said the police were still working to find other suspects as the number of people involved in the incidents reached dozens.

In another incident on Monday community group members lowered the flag of Pemuda Pancasila organization on Jalan Penjagalan Raya, Tambora, West Jakarta.

The incident occurred as a revenge after a stall belonging to FBR member Syarifudin Leo Ardy (36) and merchandise belonging to Nana Rusmana (31) were vandalized before by members of another community organization on Jalan Bandengan Raya, Tambora, West Jakarta.

Because of the vandalism some FBR members gathered at the command post to find those who had conducted the destruction.

They upon arriving at the post attacked people found in the post and vandalized the building.

Conflicts among community organizations have occurred quite frequently in the capital recently.
