Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA News) - The prime suspect in the killing of an Indonesian citizen whose body was found in an oil palm plantation ditch at Kampung Tapah, Setiu, Terengganu, Saturday, July 27, finally surrendered on Thursday.

Head of State Criminal Investigation Department ACP K Manoharan said that the suspect who is a Thai national had given himself up at Setiu Police office at 3:30 am local time.

"The 51 year old suspect gave himself up after a number of Malaysian television stations and newspapers aired his picture recently," said Manoharan as quoted by the Malaysian news agency Bernama.

He said that the police did not reject the possibility of jealousy as the motive after an investigation found that the victim had relationship with a foreign woman who identified as Mek Na.

On Saturday, the man`s body who is identified as 32 years old Heri was found decomposing in a ditch with several severe blunt trauma injuries in his head, forehead, feet and palms.

The suspect is currently detained for seven days and the case is being investigated under the Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. (A050/YH)
