"Let us build a good tradition and culture."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono called on political elites here on Monday to develop a good political tradition with regard to preventing political disturbance.
"Let us build a good tradition and culture," he said in his speech at a fast breaking gathering with independence pioneers, veterans, retired army members, retirees, widows of national heroes and the `45 Generation members at the State Palace.
President Yudhoyono said at the current era of transparency bad political traditions and culture often emerged such as cursing and name calling beyond appropriateness.
He said the elites must be able to become a role model by setting good examples, adding the Indonesian nation must jointly build a good and civil political culture.
He said every generation has given an outstanding service to the development of the nation and therefore the present generation must give high respect to the previous generations from independence fighters to those under the governments that followed.
